Renee DeMichiei Farrow is an entrepreneur, small business advocate, and author who is highly lauded for business branding, marketing, business development, public relations, government relations and coaching.
Renee founded the award-winning business Decorating Details, LLC in 1992 – and has relaunched the business in 2020! Decorating Details is a custom window treatment business. In her full-time work, she is Director of Business Development for a woman owned architectural firm in Pittsburgh.
She was honored as a 2015 Plum High School Distinguished Alumni and started a scholarship for the TV Production students in memory of her parents, and with the help of her three brothers. Together they have given over $19,000 to students continuing their education. Renee’s long list of awards, in short, also includes Cribs for Kids Women of Achievement Award, Athena Finalist, PA Best 50 Women in Business. YWCA Tribute to Women in Business, and Girl Scout Woman of Achievement. Additionally, she served as Vice President of Building Network MACE – a networking group for the manufacturing, architecture, construction, and engineering industries.
Known for her civic commitment, Renee currently serves on the board of Gwen’s Girls as Vice- Chair and SPEO (South Western PA Engineers Organization). She is also on the Executive Leadership Team for the March of Dimes TBC Awards, United Way Women’s Leadership Council, UPMC Passavant Gala Host Committee, and Leadership Pittsburgh Annual Lunch Host Committee. Renee is a graduate of Leadership Pittsburgh XIX, Coro Women in Leadership, and will graduate with her professional coaching certification at Duquesne University in 2021.
This is the second time Renee has contributed to an anthology. The first was in 2013, Empower! Women’s Stories of Breakthrough, Discovery, and Triumph.
Renee will tell everyone and anyone who will listen: Her biggest accomplishment is her family. Married to retired City of Pittsburgh EMS Chief Bob Farrow for 43 years, they have raised three successful children – Rob, Rachel, and Ryan – and they are the doting and loving grandparents of two beautiful grandchildren - Jack Andrew and Ellie An.
